Much of the game world is 0.0 security, but you never have to go there if you don't want too.

Going into low security space without doing the proper recon work to determine what kind of people are present in local will usually lead to certain death. Eve is not a friendly game, if you make a mistake you lose your ship, simple.

Yes, it is very possible. But in my opinion if you do so you will probably get bored with Eve and quit, its much more fun to figure out how to cheat death and earn the higher rewards of low security and 0.0 space. But thats just me, there are people content to mine and run missions in high sec for their entire time in Eve.

Find yourself a good player corporation to join and enlist help when you go to low sec.

I would be real careful here.. you were the one that clicked "Ok" when the warning popped up about entering low security space. And then were surprised when you got blown up. Next make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. You shoot NPC's for isk and fun, those 3 shoot other players for isk and fun.
